Why might you use the Essay or Poetic forms of Documentary?

A panel of filmmakers will talk about their work in those forms and discuss this exciting documentary genre.

Dr Hart Cohen will talk about where it all began with Chris Marker and Sans Soleil. We will see you can make

a very short evocative essay film with Ben Tyler. Bettina Frankham will explore the poetic and talk about how

it is now expressing itself in new online forms of documentary.

What does this form offer the filmmaker?

What do these films offer audiences?

How can these films be made?

Are there any rules?
