Rowena Potts

rowena bio fotoROWENA POTTS is a documentary filmmaker, currently completing a PhD in socio-cultural Anthropology at New York University. She holds a graduate diploma in documentary from the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS); a graduate Certificate in Culture and Media from NYU, where she trained in filmmaking at the Tisch School of the Arts and completed a specialized joint course of study with the Departments of Anthropology and Cinema Studies; an MA in Anthropology from NYU; and a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Religion from Harvard University. Rowena’s doctoral work focuses on indigenous media, the history and theory of ethnographic film, and documentary as a form of cultural production. She is currently in post-production for a documentary short about pigeon breeders in Brooklyn, and in development for a project about a community facing forced relocation due to rising sea-levels in the Pacific Ocean.
