Women Behind the Scenes: How to get to 50%

Presented by OzDox and WIFT (Women in Film and Television) and chaired by Gillian Leahy. Screen NSW led the way with new initiatives to get more women into roles in government supported films, and Grainne Brunsdon was actively involved in that initiative as Head of Strategy and Industry Development. Deb Verhoeven, Professor and Chair of Media and Communication at Deakin University, isĀ outspoken on the topic, backed by fascinating research. Australian Directors Guild President and feature film director Samantha Lang has been involved in pressing for change at Screen Australia, which has recently announced new measures. President of WIFT and writer/director Sophie Mathisen hasĀ used direct action, such as the ‘sausage’ protest at the AACTA Awards. What progress has been made? What more can be done?
