AIDCMasterclasses and workshops specializing in docu-drama will feature alongside drama and digital filmmaking at the Australian Directors Guild’s three-day conference, “Crossing the Line”, being held in Adelaide in 2011.

From Sunday February 27 to Tuesday March 1, the Conference is being staged in collaboration with the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) and the BigPond Adelaide Film Festival (BAFF).

March 1 is especially designed for documentary makers.

Aimed at mid-career directors as well as newcomers, the conference gives delegates a rare opportunity to extend their professional development in a high-level workshop environment.

Australian directors include Rob Marchand – the “Mike Leigh” approach to improvisation and creating narrative. Practical dramatisation techniques for documentary storytelling will be available – director TBA. Amiel Courtin-Wilson – the process of making a feature length docudrama. (His film, HAIL, will be launched at BAFF during the same week.) Michela Ledwidge – extending your content onto multi-platforms.

International directors are soon to be confirmed.

Discount earlybird registrations for both members and non-members are open until January 12 at, where further conference details are also available.
