I’m so sorry I missed 1428 at AFTRS Monday, 12th September, 2011. I was there yesterday and first heard about OzDox. I recently went to a screening on Our Generation in Gymea. The next one is at Cronulla Cinemas next Monday, the 19th of September (starting at 7pm). Tickets will be $15 pp with profits to go to Thulli Dreaming and Amnesty International Australia.
I think its a very important film! It won: BEST CAMPAIGN FILM London International Film Festival 2011 and is/or was in ASIA PACIFIC SCREEN AWARDS in competition 2011.

i would love to see you cope with these kids who have been abused sexually, mentally and physically. if you have a better idea get it up on tv and see how you cope! allan has givin his life for these kids because he cares, just because you think that i wont work doesnt mean that it wont that is your oppinion, yes but may i sugest that you watch the series and just see how much these kids have changed all because of allans method.And have some respect for Allan hey!

I hope you watched the whole series. There is something uplifting watching these kids go from a feeling of worthlessness to realising they are in fact, valuable human beings. All because Allan cares. Yes, his methods are unorthodox, but he cares about these kids which is more than anyone can say about “the system”. These kids desperately need guidance, tolerance and love – all of which Brahminy is providing them while they attempt to heal. It’s a shame you attack Allan and his methods – it shows not only your lack of understanding but also your lack of appreciation for those in society who are willing to do anything to help save these lost children.

Whats your solution then? Leave those kids to the system? Easy for your to rubbish what this mans doing but are you doing anything. The reason Allan might come across as ‘deranged’ is because he lacks political correctness and is a real person – not a faceless, blameless drone.

These kids are tough as the landscape they have grown up in and they have had to have been to survive what they have lived, probably more than you! If juvenile hall wont sort them out what will? Dont rubbish a bloke who has time for these kids becasue he is only of the only one who is trying anything for these kids who would just slide deeper into a tunnel of shit, maybe he will make them see for others a bit and this in turn would make the streets safer

Sarah Williams, you seriously seemed to have missed the point of the Brahminy group entirely. You’re vilifying a man who has devoted his entire life to children and who is offering an alternative to prison for these children. He is setting an example. Surely if his method isn’t working, sending these children to prison where they could plausibly suffer even further abuse and become severely institutionalised would be far less effective than trying to relate to them and prove to them that people do care. Are you a youth worker? Are you an educated professional of any kind? I sincerely doubt that you are and thus should definitely not comment on the credentials of others. By your logic, re offenders who end up back in prison are testimony that the prison system doesn’t work either, so perhaps alternatives are the best thing, especially for children who aren’t intrinsically bad and deserve another chance.

I was actually shocked by this programme – dos this man have any appropriate training? lack of consistency, mixed messages and provoking teenagers to fire up SURELY does not count as help in anyone’s book. He came across as a complete shark, possibly deranged! Surely no parent would willingly send their child there? And if the kids keep on coming back, it;’s testimony that the method isn’t working!
